Dynamic Image Target Loading

Hi all,

Just wondering if it’s possible to dynamically load image targets from URLs for WebAR? We would like the user to be able to use an image they’ve taken at a photobooth to be loaded as the image tracker when they access the AR experience through QR code.

Thanks.

Hi @ashlee.fms,

I hope you’re well! This certainly sounds like an interesting project, however, in order for a regular image to become a target image, it has to be trained. This means that you would have to put each photo taken at the photobooth manually through the trainer in Studio.

Depending on what you wanted (or are able) to do, you could have a separate tracking image that is on the bottom of all your print-outs and then position objects to ‘fake’ them being around the photos.

If you specifically wanted your content to be on or around somebody’s face, rather than the slip, you might be able to get away with just a trigger (though we cannot create these dynamically - you’d have to create a deep link and find a dynamic QR code resource if you wanted different codes) and face tracking, however, depending on the picture (lighting, angle, amount of people) this could be hit or miss and I’m not aware of anybody that has done a similar test.

Hopefully that was helpful!

All the best,
Francesca
