Zappar freezing when camera flips on iOS

Hello!

We’ve just installed a Zappar experience in a museum exhibition. We did not have this experience during testing, but following installation we’ve noticed that Zappar is freezing when users click the camera orientation icon and then try to flip the camera back. We’re working in iOS 10.3 on iPad Pros. Any insight?

Thank you!!

Hannah

Hi Hannah,

Have you tried turning off the device completely and then turning it back on? iOS device cameras can sometimes get a little confused and crash after long periods of use.

If that doesn’t help then feel free to send your project over and we can test internally on our iPad Pro, either the .zpp if it’s a Studio experience or the URL to the designer/widget experience.

Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,

Thanks for following up. We have tried restarting before, but the issue is that the app needs to remain open over a long period of time–even if it’s not in use–for museum visitors to engage with at a kiosk-like set up. We can make a point to restart the iPads every day, but do you have any additional recommendations–any ways of working with Zappar via Guided Access or another controlled setting so that it’s not running over longer periods of time? There are multiple projects involved, but I’m happy to share a .zpp file if that helps.

Thanks!

Hannah

Update: Have you tested these kinds of issues in iOS 11? Tried an overnight test, just leaving the app running, on a beta version, and it’s working well this morning. Am wondering if the impending release next week will address this issue. Thanks!

Hi Hannah,

We’ve not got the beta for iOS 11 installed on our iPad Pro but if you could send over any one of the experiences you’re dealing with we can definitely test on 10.3 and see if we run into the same issue.

Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,

That would be great! Do you have a private email to which I can send the project file?

Thank you!

Hannah

Hi Hannah,

Send it over to support@zappar.com and we’ll have a look

Thanks,
Mark
