Will future versions of ZapWorks tools be web based?

Given that full-blown 3D modeling apps now work in the browser via WebGL, it would seem to be a natural evolution of the platform. Having a browser-based version of Studio would perhaps enable easier and more frequent updates and bug fixes.

Yup WebGL definitely makes Web-based tooling more of a possibility. An online tool would be quicker for people to jump into, and could potentially offer faster publishing as the whole media library would already be server-side.

You’d probably need to be connected to do any work though (technically Service Workers might allow some functionality offline but they’re not straightforward). Requiring a connection is probably not a huge issue as to publish or preview currently requires a network connection anyway.

Nothing to announce right now on this
