Preview image for videos using widgets

It would be great to have the ability to change the preview image of a video widget like you can with a web link. I have been asked to do this a few times and the best I can do is edit the video so the first frame is the image that needs to be displayed in the preview

Hi @PaulB,

Widgets is our basic editor, so it’s designed to be quite limited in terms of feature set, though what you’ve described would be possible with our other tools, as they allow for more customisation.

With Designer you could:

  • Save the frame you’d like to use as a preview image from your video editor.
  • Import the image to Designer in your scene.
  • Create a new scene, and upload your video to it, positioning it at the same coordinates as the image in the previous scene. Set the video to play when the scene is launched.
  • Head back to the first scene and set up an On Tap > Go To Scene action on the preview image. This will transition to your second scene when the user taps on it, in which your video will play automatically.
